NAIF/SPICE Class 2018

Locandina_SPICE_20180607We are pleased to announce the opening of registrations for the NAIF/SPICE Class 2018.

This full day seminar is held by BIS-Italia in cooperation with, and on behalf of, NASA/JPL Navigation and Ancillary Information Facility. to illustrate the powerful capabilities of the SPICE Toolkit.

The SPICE Toolkit is a free software suite (libraries, tools, documentation and data) that permits to develop mission analysis and planning, missioni operations, science operations and science data analysis with multiple programming environments. The SPICE Toolkit is used around the world on space missions of any kind.
NAIF/SPICE Class 2018 will be held at the Faculty of Engineering of the University “Sapienza” in Rome, on June 7th. The full day program will introduce to the free NASA software libraries for operational astrodynamics computations, widely used in many missions, as well as a brief introduction to celestial mechanics. Attendees will be guided also through practical examples, for which a personal computer will be required (but not strictly necessary to attend the class).

SPICE_imageThis seminar is open to everyone with an interest in space and would like to use this free and powerful tools to understand better many topics related to the real activities behind a space mission. It is not a lecture on mission analysis and planning.

Registrations will be limited to 15 attendees (first come, first served) because of logistic issues and the need to provide guidance during practical examples. Please note that the seminar will last a full day. If unable to attend for the entire period please offer others the opportunity to attend.
